Pond Duckweed – How to beat it early!

Duckweed: a small, green, floating plant that is known for its rapid growth in ponds, lakes, and other bodies of water. It can infest a small pond or quiet bay in a matter of days! Duckweed can prove to be a struggle for home owners all season long. To make duckweed matters worse, even after treatment, it can still be brought into your pond by wildlife.

So, how does one keep on top of duckweed so it doesn’t get too out of control in your pond? We have a great line of products that will help you in how to get rid of duckweed. Below is a guide showing you which products to use and when to use them so you can keep your pond clear and beautiful all summer!

What products to use and how to use them:

Lake Restoration Pond Products includes a herbicide, algaecide, nutrient reducer, and dye to eliminate weeds, algae, muck and excess nutrients, as well as to give your pond a nice blue color. We recommend using all pond products in order to yield best pond results with duckweed removal.

Dibrox® Herbicide

Dibrox® is a contact herbicide you can use to kill pond duckweed infestations, and also treat your whole pond if needed. We recommend treating every 4-6 weeks, or when you see duckweed reappearing in your pond!

Mizzen® Algaecide

Use Mizzen® to control algae and pond scum in your pond. You can also use this to spot treat patches of algae, or treat your whole pond at once. Repeat every 4-6 weeks or when algae re-appears.

SparKlear® Nutrient Reducer (Comes in pellets or liquid form)

Beneficial bacteria and enzymes to help with water clarity and muck reduction. We recommend using it every 2-4 weeks to keep your pond clear and muck-free.

Sapphire Bay® Pond Dye

Simply pour in your pond to give it a pleasing blue color!
