Pond and Lake Weed Control Product Dibrox™ Herbicide Hits Shelves

June 16, 2016

We are introducing a new pond and lake weed herbicide, Dibrox™ Herbicide to our product line up. Dibrox™ Herbicide controls a wide range of floating and submerged weeds in ponds and around docks.  Dibrox™ Herbicide contains the same active ingredient as Diquat and Reward® herbicide and is quickly absorbed by plants to easily control duckweed in ponds and submerged weeds in pond or lakes.

Dibrox™ Herbicide will now be a part of our signature pond and lake weed control kits, PONDRestore® and Restore Access®.  The PONDRestore® kit includes Dibrox™ Herbicide, Mizzen® Algaecide, SparKlear® and Sapphire Bay® Blue Pond Dye.  The Restore Access® kit eliminates submerged lake weeds, algae and muck around dock or swimming areas and includes Dibrox™ Herbicide, Mizzen® Algaecide and Muck Maid® muck eliminator.  Whether a pond or a lake, we have a complete do-it-yourself weed control kit for controlling nuisance algae and pond or lake weeds.

“Dibrox® Herbicide is a great and affordable addition to the herbicides that we already offer to our customers,” says Chad Hadler, VP of Operations at Lake Restoration.  “We are very excited to add a liquid herbicide that will tackle pondweeds and lake weeds so our valued customers can enhance their summer experience and enjoy their pond and lake at its best!”

Dibrox™ Herbicide can easily be applied to your pond or lake using the TORMADA® product application boat.  The TORMADA® is an unmanned lightweight boat that enables ponds and dock areas to be treated for weeds and algae without launching a manned boat or using a backpack sprayer.  The TORMADA® is easy to use, and has a simple set up.   Easily treat the water right from the shoreline and drive your weeds and algae away.

Lake Restoration sells many traditional herbicides and algaecides in its online store. Dibrox™ Herbicide, a Lake Restoration product, is available in five sizes:  8 ounce ($14.85) treats 1,000-2,500 square feet, 1 pint ($21.99) treats 2,500-5,000 square feet, 1 quart ($33.75) treats 5,000-10,000 square feet, Half Gallon ($58.00) treats 10,000-20,000 square feet, and 1 Gallon ($101.00) treats 20,000-40,000 square feet.

Watermeal and PONDRestore® Watermeal Kits

June 10, 2015

Watermeal is a challenge to control, and can easily double in area in days.  It is the single smallest plant worldwide, making it difficult for the plant to uptake enough herbicide to be effective.  It has a thick cuticle on both sides of the plant and shows no visible roots.  It looks like a green cornmeal or grits and   can quickly infest a pond.

An effective means of ridding your pond of pesky watermeal is to use our PONDRestore® Watermeal kit.  This complete kit includes:  Clipper Herbicide, Mizzen® Algaecide, Nutrient Reducer SparKlear® and also Sapphire Bay® Blue Pond Dye. You can easily control floating weeds or submerged weeds, reduce the phosphorus and other nutrients and eliminate algae.

Clipper delivers a rapid control of floating and submerged weeds such as watermeal, duck weed, water milfoil and pond weeds.  It dissipates quickly from the water column giving minimal restrictions for irrigation.  It is easy to use and you will see great results within 7-14 days!  Clipper is also available in one pound or 5 pound containers.

Mizzen® Algaecide easily controls filamentous algae and effectively manages planktonic algae.  It is a liquid, chelated copper based algaecide that is concentrated.  It is easily applied and has zero restrictions for swimming, fishing and irrigation.

The PONDRestore® Watermeal kit also includes a nutrient reducer and a pond dye.  SparKlear® reduces the nutrients that enable weed and algae growth.  Using a pond dye not only adds a natural looking color to your pond, small lake or water feature, but it will also help block out specific light rays that will deter weed and algae growth.

Our PONDRestore® Watermeal kits are available in two convenient sizes starting at $295.  Get the best option for controlling Watermeal and be on your way to a beautiful, clear and healthy pond!

Is your yard party ready?

June 10, 2015

Summer is almost here, the weather is getting warmer.  It is time for Graduation Parties, Family BBQ’s and maybe even a Summer Wedding.  Do you have your yard ready to entertain for the summer?

Give yourself at least a week to prepare for any outdoor event, longer if it is a bigger event.  Step back and look around your yard.  What do you like about your yard/landscaping, what would you like to change?  Write down areas that you would like to see improved so you can refer to your list and check off the item when it is completed.

Do you have enough chairs or standing space for everyone?  Whether you have lawn chairs or more permanent outdoor loveseats/couches, make sure that your furniture is wiped down and ready for your guests to sit on.  If you have a tent or canopy, make sure this is in working order and that it is secured to the ground.  Inspect your deck for any loose railings or splitting wood.  Make sure that any walk ways are clear so your guests can move around easily.

Even though you are outdoors, making sure that you have the proper lighting can help avoid any accidents while adding great decorations.  Solar lights are inexpensive and easy to install.  If you have a string of lights, this can add an element of fun to your party.  String lights across your yard, wrap them around your deck railings or even yet hang long strands of lights from your trees.  Citronella Candles will help keep away the mosquitos and having a bonfire is a great place for your guests to gather---don’t forget to have items on hand to make s’mores!

Music at your party is a must have.  Whether it is an elegant out door gathering, hanging out with friends, or having a kid’s birthday party, make sure the music that you have fits the theme of the party that you are hosting.  If it is a dinner party, you might not want the music on really loud, if it is a group of friends…turn up the music! You might even have an impromptu dance party!  Having outdoor speakers is a great addition to the patio or deck area.  If you don’t have a sound system outdoors, you can always bring the music out for the night.  Make sure that it can easily be covered in case of inclement weather.

Keep your lawn looking its best by mowing and tackling the weeds early.  If you have weeds in your yard, it could take up to 2 weeks for a weed treatment to work. Make sure to not water the yard the day before or the day of the party…nobody wants to walk around on wet grass. If you need to mow your lawn do this at least two days before your party, remember to bag so your guests aren’t walking around in grass clippings.

Make your garden bloom. Does your garden area look healthy?  Weed out your perennial flower beds or vegetable gardens making sure that everything is trimmed and healthy looking.  Do you need a pop of color?  Brighten up your yard or patio area by bringing in flower pots with annuals in bright colors.

If you have a backyard pond or water feature, take the guess work out of managing them.   Use a complete pond kit that has an algaecide, herbicide, pond dye and nutrient reducers to keep your pond area looking great.  Depending on the type of weed that you may have in your pond or back yard water garden, treat your pond at the beginning of the season and then keep it looking great with periodic algaecide/nutrient reduction treatments.  Bring peace and tranquility to your water features and keep them beautiful all year long.

Toy overload.  Kids love playing outside.  If you have young children, having a bucket filled with their outdoor toys is a great way to keep the toys organized but yet accessible.  Plus, if you aren’t having a kid friendly party, you can then easily pick up the bucket and tuck it in a shed or garage for the day.  If you have kids coming over and don’t have kids of your own, having a kick ball, side walk chalk or a container of bubbles is a great way to keep the kiddos entertained.

Tasty Food and Drinks.  Make sure that your grill is cleaned and ready to throw on the burgers and brats.  It is a good idea to check that you have enough propane or charcoal on hand.  If it is hot outside, your guests may drink more beverages.  Keep plenty of ice and drinks on hand so everyone stays hydrated.

Even though you plan on being outdoors, make sure that you have enough space inside the house in case you need to move the festivities indoors.  Outdoor entertaining should be a great time to get together and hang out with friends and family.  Don’t forget the decorations and FUN!
